Favorite Films
Many of the fictional works that have been an inspiration to me were turned into films. I have found a direct relationship between great novels and great films. If you do the research, you will see that the best works of fiction are often turned into films, and although some good books have not been, or cannot be adapted into films, I find it easy to measure the quality of a book based on how well it can be adapted to a film. The reason for this is that great stories often take into consideration the same important factors in good films; a strong plot, suspense, twists, distinct visual components, strong characters, good dialogue and conceptual elements. Great films start with great screen plays, good books being great starts for screenwriters with no good ideas. There is also a subtle balance found in the kinds of good books that translate into good films, and this has been central in my formulas and can be found in my work. Take what you can from this, if you are an aspiring novelist - my advice is to watch these films, 90% of them are based on books, and those that aren't, easily could be. Then read the books, or vice versa!
